The Athenaeum to hire its own Mary Poppins!

The Athenaeum is arguably London’s most family-friendly hotel for reasons that are well known.  One of its main draws is the Children’s Concierge service which can even plan a customised itinerary ahead of your visit.

Children up to ten also get a toy box filled with specially-selected games for their stay with favourite drinks, snacks and music, etc. also available.  Free milk and cookies can be ordered at bedtime too.  Teenagers are not forgotten and enjoy an almost limitless supply of music and video games!

Being opposite Green Park is another advantage in central London with a bunch of energetic children and it’s not far from delightful Hyde Park either.  They’ll even give your little darlings kites and frisbees for fun in the park.

In an attempt to further reinforce its kid-friendly credentials, the Athenaeum has recently been trying to recruit a so-called “Granny Nanny” to offer further comfort and pampering to the hotel’s youngest guests.

The job description suggests they are looking for a silver-haired but glamorous Mary Poppins: someone who will provide babysitting services as well as genuine granny-like comfort and care for younger guests.

The Athenaeum is renowned for treating your kids like little princes and princesses - they'll be inundated with treats!

It’s certainly an innovative idea and a great way to differentiate a hotel that has already built an advantage over rivals with its family-orientation.

And according to a recent tweet on the Athenaeum’s official Twitter feed they are on the cusp of making an announcement!

The hotel’s pricing is refreshingly reasonable too given its spacious rooms and apartments, generous free amenities and central London location.

Even without considering all the kid-friendly benefits, the hotel is currently a respectable number 64 on TripAdvisor from more than 1000 London hotels.
