Peek behind the curtains at the Dorchester.

by Rajul on August 30, 2010

The Dorchester is probably London's most glamorous address

The Dorchester is arranging a secret tour later this month to give you behind-the-scenes access to its operations and staff.

It’s almost your last chance to join a unique behind-the-scenes tour of the Dorchester Hotel taking place under the banner of Open House – London’s principal architectural showcase – on Sunday 19th September.

The tour is completely free of charge and will show a fortunate few some of London’s finest rooms and suites.  It will also reveal the secret world of the dedicated staff who work so hard to provide you with a sumptuous 5 star experience at one of London’s most famous historic hotels.

For example, you will be shown how the Dorchester’s head valet steams the huge quantity of shirts needed by guests each day and how the pastry chef prepares hundreds of hand-crafted cakes for afternoon tea.  You’ll witness at first hand the extraordinary attention to detail behind the impeccable service that is expected in a hotel of this calibre.

You’ll also see why both celebrities and mere mortals flock to the hotel year after year.  And assess its pros and cons versus Claridge’s and the Lanesborough in terms of both its style of service and ambience.

The Dorchester is an Art Deco inspired hotel and has undergone several waves of renovation, most recently through the multi-million pound refurbishment of the Dorchester Spa, one of the best spas in London.  It also has London’s only current hotel restaurant with 3 Michelin stars.
