Cheap Gatwick hotels with solid guest reviews.

by Bernard on September 17, 2010

If you get lost in one of the airport YOTEL's corridors late at night, you'd be forgiven for thinking you might already be travelling "first class" on the plane!

We’ve previously covered hotels near Stansted Airport and examined one of the best Heathrow airport hotels.  Now it’s the turn of Gatwick – the UK’s second-busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic numbers.

Although it lies some 28 miles south of central London, Gatwick is actually quite easy to reach from the centre of town via Victoria station – an area which also hosts an interesting hotel for royalty enthusiasts.

A striking feature of Gatwick airport is that it has a significant airline presence across the spectrum of low-cost, full-service and charter airlines.  So there’s a pretty good chance you may be flying in or out of Gatwick if you visit London often, particularly if you like to hunt down cheap flights.

If you do end up at Gatwick, you may want to stay overnight nearby, especially if flying at an unsociable hour.  We’ve focused our search on cheap Gatwick hotels, assuming you just want to rest your weary head.

And to this end we certainly recommend YOTEL – a concept (ironically!) inspired by business class travel.  YOTEL has good TripAdvisor reviews and free WiFi – always essential but particularly in an airport hotel.

A Premium YOTEL cabin is worth the extra investment if you need to work

YOTEL calls itself a budget luxury hotel but we’d recommend you go for a premium cabin if you need any space – standard “cabins” really are tiny!

But then you’ll certainly find it super-modern and spotlessly clean.  A YOTEL cabin can be reserved for as little as 4 hours and offers unbeatable value.  Moreover, the Gatwick YOTEL is located right inside the airport (South Terminal) so you’ll have no excuse for missing your flight!

A budget alternative if you’d prefer a more conventional hotel is the Premier Inn Crawley – which delivers the usual consistent Premier Inn experience.  Remember though that you do currently have to pay for WiFi there.

Premier Inn Crawley offers the usual dependable Premier Inn experience including the "Good Night Guarantee" - often much needed before a flight!
