Corinthia London opening delayed once more.

by Rajul on April 15, 2011

The Corinthia London is one of the capital's most keenly-anticipated luxury hotel launches but its opening has been put back once more

The Corinthia London’s opening date seems to have been put back once again, London Hotels Insight can exclusively reveal.

Based on a phone enquiry we made to the hotel’s reservation department earlier today, the hotel will not now open on April 16th as was previously signalled by Hotel Chatter in line with the hotel’s own guidance, but on April 27th.  It still makes it in time for the Royal Wedding – though only just!

Doubts were recently shed on its ability to open at all given the sanctions against Libya and the mystery surrounding the luxury hotel’s backers.  But the person we spoke to at the hotel today seemed to suggest everything was on track, albeit a little later than had been originally planned.

The good news is that the Corinthia will join the ranks of free WiFi London hotels – surely making things even more uncomfortable for those isolated luxury hotels that stubbornly continue to charge for such a basic amenity.

The Corinthia will also house what is claimed to be the largest hotel suite in London – the Royal Suite – which will vie with the upcoming Lanesborough Suite as one of the capital’s swankiest and most expensive rooms.

When it does eventually open, the 294 room Corinthia is likely to take a prime position among the swathe of new luxury London hotels which are currently lighting up the city’s hospitality scene.

Intriguingly, it will also feature the first Harrods shop inside a hotel!
