The 5 star Capital Hotel is celebrating its 40th! To mark this anniversary, the luxury townhouse hotel is not only having a facelift; it has also arranged a month of promotions and activities for guests to get involved in.

The hotel first opened in May 1971 and is still run by the same family, who have been welcoming guests for four decades (we recently featured its sister the Levin as one of the top 5 boutique luxury hotels in London).

Located in Knightsbridge, the Capital Hotel is ideal for shopping, with Harrods and Harvey Nichols moments away. All 49 bedrooms are being brought fully up to date while retaining their classic English designs.

The hotel’s Capital Restaurant will be joining in the celebrations and is currently offering a degustation menu of six courses for £70, or £128 including wine. The menu features the most popular dishes from the previous four decades and will be offered during lunch and dinner times.

The Capital Bar will be celebrating the 40th anniversary with a menu of cocktails from the 1970s. Harvey Wallbangers, Sours and Godfathers will be served, together with a special selection of 1971 vintage wines and spirits. A special new whiskey and cheese pairing menu has also been created by the head barman Cesar da Silva.

But that’s not all. The hotel will offer special birthday rates during August, with rooms from £197.10 (if booking directly with the hotel) – nearly 50% off the normal rates, leaving you plenty of extra money for those cocktails…
