Syon Park hotel surges into Tripadvisor top 5.
It looks like the Waldorf Astoria’s London Syon Park is a big hit with its guests already and the hotel has catapulted into TripAdvisor’s top 5 London hotels. This new five-star hotel only opened in March and at the time of writing has had 23 reviews. All but two reviewers gave it 5 out of 5.
We’re sure from reading the TripAdvisor guest comments that the staff are doing a fine job, but can anyone at TripAdvisor tell us how in a hotel market as competitive as London’s, 20-odd reviews is sufficient for a hotel to gatecrash the top 5 (out of more than 1000 hotels)?
We are TripAdvisor fans on this blog but this makes us a bit uneasy.
The hotel located in Syon Park models itself on an “English country playground” for adults. There are 137 rooms and suites all with wall mounted TVs, illuminated rain showers and heated floors. Rooms look out onto landscaped gardens and reflecting pools, most from private balconies.
Every guestroom features a 42” LCD HD TV complete with up-to-date in-room entertainment systems powered by Apple. But I was disappointed to learn on contacting the hotel that they charge guests £15 a day extra for WiFi! This rather shortsighted policy will put a lot of people off from booking, but I guess you pays your money and makes your choice.

The hotel also features a butterfly house in the lobby, an ice cream sundae bar named Brownie serving a host of sweet goodies, a private club and Peacock Alley martini bar. There is also the Capability restaurant which features “Landscape Cooking” showcasing local ingredients and herbs grown in the grounds combined with produce sourced from the British Isles.
Plus now that it’s summer, guests can make full use of The Deck with its views across Syon Park, cushioned sofas and extensive cocktail list.
Not only that, the hotel’s Kallima spa also has its very own plastic surgeon, Mr. Alex Karidis – just in case you should fancy a treatment whilst you’re staying (non-surgical of course)!

And if guests feel the need to leave the hotel they can always visit the nearby zoo which features a whole collection of animals that have been rescued from illegal trading. Baby crocodile anyone?
