Pure tea poetry at the Chesterfield Mayfair.
Ok, stick with me here. Britain’s premiere tea poet – yes ladies and gents, there’s a lady who writes poems about our favourite brew – will be appearing at a very special afternoon tea at the Chesterfield Mayfair.
To further enhance the hotel’s already much-loved and good value afternoon tea, Elizabeth Darcy-Jones will be bringing her unique blend – see what we did there – to the new monthly “poetea” fixture.
Elizabeth is the author of Distinguished Leaves (a book of forty tea poems) and will entertain guests as they sip their favourite variety – whether that’s Earl Grey, which the poet describes as the “Nigel Havers of tea”; or Lychee Red – “sweet as the kiss of pink gin”. She has a special poem for each one and will perform a private recital to each table, the perfect complement to the quintessentially English afternoon tea experience.
The entertainment will of course be accompanied by your choice of the Chesterfield’s acclaimed afternoon teas. Whether you choose a traditional tea, treat yourself to the Champagne tea or indulge in a Chocolate Lovers’ tea, Elizabeth will make it extra special with her charming ditties.

Don’t miss the chance to experience this first-of-its-kind event – the first “poetea” takes place at the luxury Mayfair hotel on August 4 and then on a monthly basis. Advance booking is strongly advised. And you might also be tempted to retire to one of London’s best hotel bars afterwards…
