The Halkin comes of age in style.

by Jules on August 11, 2011

The Halkin is known for its stylish designer rooms and Nahm Thai restaurant - and is celebrating its birthday over a period spanning almost 2 months!

The Halkin was one of London’s first boutique design hotels with just 41 rooms and is marking its 20th birthday this September.  To celebrate, the hotel has arranged a whole host of events and promotions planned running right up until the end of October – that’s some birthday celebration!  There will be a pop up lounge, special afternoon tea menu, three newly refurbished suites and a selection of creative bespoke packages.

The pop up ‘Culture Lounge’ sees book publisher Assouline take over the hotel bar from September to October.  The lounge will showcase some of the publisher’s most iconic coffee-table books and is open to guests and non-residents for browsing.  There will also be the opportunity to see recent titles brought to life through a series of literary events with the authors - with dates and times still to be confirmed.

The specially designed Afternoon Tea menu features creations by Pierre Hermé Paris including his infamous macaroons.  It will run until the end of October.  The pastry chef also recently opened his first London “Macarons & Chocolats” boutique on neighbouring Lowndes Street.

The Halkin offers a minimalist chic style in one of London's original boutique hotels

The new 20th anniversary suites will be unveiled in September and are a permanent addition to the hotel.  Two COMO Suites and one Belgravia Suite have been given a facelift and now include large balconies overlooking the hotel gardens.  Huge sitting rooms with glass ‘conservatory-style’ windows make them some of the brightest luxury suites in London.

Special 20th anniversary packages in this free WiFi London hotel will offer guests the opportunity to enjoy tailor-made breaks as ‘Families’, ‘Shoppers’ and ‘Gastronomes’ , combining unique experiences with one-night stays.

The family package includes chocolate painting, dipping or chocolate bar making, in room Nintendo Wiis and a selection of age appropriate gifts.  The Halkin seems to be following the trend of several family-friendly London hotels this summer in pulling out all the stops to attract the kiddies.

The gastronomy package includes dinner at Nahm, The Halkin’s award-winning Thai restaurant, as well as an experience at Pierre Hermé Paris Macarons and Chocolate Boutique.  For shoppers, there is a bespoke perfume consultation with Les Senteurs, a ‘His & Hers’ experience including private appointments at De Vroomen jewellers and TomTom Cigars, and a ‘Belgravia Sybarite’ three-hour private London shopping tour.

But that’s not all!  Throughout September the hotel will also be running a host of competitions including the chance to win a private dinner for 20 at nahm.  This is one celebration that everyone will want to get involved in!
