Pestana Chelsea Bridge delivers some real luxury touches at a 4 star price point
Pestana Chelsea Bridge - the flagship hotel of the Portuguese group - far outranks its 4* rating. Many rooms enjoy views of Battersea Power Station and are spacious and luxurious, with even ‘standard’ rooms being generous in size. And a suite gives you a stunning private lounge which is as good as many 5 star hotels and considerably better value.
Despite only having opened in 2010, the hotel has been climbing steadily up TripAdvisor and is currently ranked in the top 80 London hotels. Reviewers describe it as being “good value” and having “beautiful rooms”.

The Pestana has one in-house restaurant - the Atlantico Restaurant and Lounge. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with Portugese flair; with a bar just off the lobby which serves after midnight for hotel residents.
But one of the hotel’s main highlights has to be its spa and lifestyle centre which again goes well beyond the norms of a conventional 4 star hotel.
It looks like something from a sci-fi film, with its coloured lighting and sleek, modern design. The indoor pool is great for a relaxing dip – or the sauna and steam room for less strenuous activity. The only downside is that the spa doesn’t open until 8am, which may be a bit late for those who enjoy a pre-work workout. However the fitness room is open 24 hours a day and is among the newest and swankiest gyms in London.

London Hotels Insight recently had a tour of the Pestana's leisure facilities: they're so futuristic you half expect an extra-terrestrial being to emerge from the swimming pool!
One of the other great aspects of the Pestana London is its location.
Perched on the south side of the Thames and opposite lovely Battersea Park, the hotel feels like a peaceful haven but is in fact within walking distance of Sloane Square. If you want to be close to town but without all the hustle and bustle then this feels like the perfect place to stay.
As an added bonus, the hotel is outside the London congestion charge zone. And it’s also one of the few London hotels with access to a car park (priced at £20 for 24 hours on weekdays and £4 at the weekend)…so it’s well-suited to those who like to rent a car in London.

Inside scoop… The hotel is just a short stroll or quick bus ride (there are bus stops right opposite the hotel) from Sloane Square, Harrods, Victoria Station and the King’s Road. But we particularly recommend that you check out the nearby Saatchi Gallery.
The freebies… Free WiFi on the Club Floor (though we’re disappointed to see that it’s currently charged for in most rooms), free breakfast with some bookings, free toiletries in all rooms, complimentary tea and coffee in the lounge. Use of the gym, swimming pool, steam room and sauna.
Don’t go home without… Trying one of the exquisite Portuguese dishes served in the Atlântico, lovingly prepared by talented chef Richard Baker.
