Z Hotels are on their way…with FREE WiFi!

by Jules on October 5, 2011

The site of the new Z Hotel Soho which doesn't quite look ready for guests...but we have been promised that a modern and stylish building is just a few weeks away

It seems like somebody has answered our prayers – following years of campaigning for all hotels to have free WiFi, a new hotel group announces its arrival in the city not just with free WiFi but also designer rooms at attractive room rates apparently starting from just £75 a night.

Z Hotels already have three hotels in the pipeline, the first of which is on Moor Street in Soho.  We popped along to take a snap of the building (above) - though with the scaffolding up there isn’t much to see yet!

However, the new website has just gone live and describes the proposition as “designer label without the designer price tag”.  This is made viable by squeezing a lot of great kit and design into relatively small rooms.

The Z Hotel Soho will come with modern (albeit small) design-led rooms at very fair prices given the central London location - describing itself as "the urbanite stay"

The hotel will have 85 rooms all with 40 inch LED HD televisions with all Sky Sports and Sky Movie channels, power showers, bespoke hand-crafted beds and i-docking stations.  The building is made up of 12 converted Georgian townhouses and is set to be stylish and modern.

It looks very much to be in the mould of the nearby Dean Street Townhouse which is itself a very well-executed “budget luxury” hotel concept.

The new Z Hotel seems very similar in concept to the nearby Dean Street Townhouse (pictured above) which honestly calls its smallest rooms "broom cupboards"

Bev King, former COO of Thistle hotels, is the brains behind Z Hotels.  The additional hotels after the Soho one will be located in Belgrave Street, Victoria (106 rooms, opening Easter 2012) and Dale Street, Liverpool (92 rooms, opening July 2012).  If they manage to deliver on all the details promised, this looks like it may be a pretty successful venture.

Z Hotel Soho will open in mid-October and we’re imagining it to be a bit like our favourite designer budget hotel, the Hoxton Hotel.  It looks like there is still a way to go so lets hope they get those boards down in time!
