Aloft Excel knows how to throw a party!
Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Aloft London Excel for the grand opening party. The hotel chain which prides itself on offering ‘style at a steal’ recently opened its first UK property way out East in the Royal Victoria Docks, a stone’s throw from the Excel conference venue. The party took place last week and featured a range of live entertainment from artists to musicians, cocktails, live radio shows, food and much more.
When I arrived the party was already in full swing and the hotel bar was bustling. Mini pies and mash with liquor sauce were being handed out, in keeping with East London tradition! There was also a street artist cut and paste competition during which four artists competed to create the best East London inspired logo which was then projected on the hotel outside.

Guests were able to help themselves in Re:Fuel, the tuck-shop style food shop which offers a selection of sandwiches, crisps, ice-cream and microwave meals, complete with a microwave – nice touch!
A radio station was broadcasting live upstairs from one of the suites and I had a snoop around and was impressed by the size of the room which even had a walk-in wardrobe, big bathroom, guest toilet and seperate seating area with 42″ TV, dining table and sofa. The hotel also has computers with free internet for guests to use and free WiFi throughout.

There is also a splash pool which looks pretty swish just off reception and a good-sized hotel gym for working out. Rooms are cheaper the longer you book in advance – I managed to find some online for £90 + VAT which is good value given the hotel’s stylish modern rooms and facilities.
