Free WiFi touchdown @ Rubens at the Palace.
The next hotel on our tour of London’s best free WiFi hotels is Rubens at the Palace - already featured on this blog for its unique location right opposite the Royal Mews and its outstanding concierge team.
As you may know, London Hotels Insight recently launched the free WiFi touchdown project to promote the UK capital’s leading free WiFi hotels. The Rubens at the Palace is a luxury 4 star hotel in the Red Carnation Hotel Collection – a group famous for its exacting service standards.

Guests are welcome to enjoy free hot chocolate in the lobby - another "tiny noticeable touch" at The Rubens
The Rubens at the Palace was dressed up in its best festive suit when we arrived including a colourful Christmas tree in the lobby. The hotel has several welcoming public areas for guests to relax in.
There are two restaurants – the laid-back Old Masters’ brasserie and the more formal Library. There is also a choice of bars: the intimate Leopard Bar (for private events, champagne breakfasts, even champagne fish and chips on Fridays!), as well as the laid-back Cavalry Bar and Palace Lounge - with the latter offering a great view over the Royal comings and goings!

Guests enjoying afternoon tea often ask to be seated by the window in the hope of catching a glimpse of Royalty!
We set up our laptops for the day in the Palace Lounge, which also happens to be venue for afternoon tea. That’s where we started our live tweeting for the day – though we were also out and about inspecting the hotel and taking photos for use on future blog posts.
The wireless connection worked perfectly and is absolutely free for hotel guests. There is also a keyboard in all guest rooms if you’ve forgotten your laptop and a handy printer with terminals on the first floor.

We were impressed by all the details in the decoration of the rooms. A special feature of the Rubens at the Palace are the eight rooms in the Royal Wing. Each takes after a design inspired by monarchs ranging from Queen Elizabeth I to Queen Victoria and are all named after a Royal. Each room is completely unique in terms of the colour scheme, artwork and furnishings. All guests are sure to find one that perfectly fits their taste and mood. We particularly enjoyed meeting Henry VIII and his wives!

A stylish free WiFi room at the Rubens - every room that we inspected at the hotel was completely individual and distinctive
We were later offered a lunch that amounted to a delicious Christmas feast which made us feel very festive.

We were thoroughly spoilt at The Rubens: both by the kindness of the staff and the luxury and comfort of the environment. This made us realise that the free WiFi is just one small detail in the way that everything is taken care of to make your stay there as memorable as possible. This is a hotel where staff aspire to make their guests say “wow” at every opportunity.
The Rubens is officially a 4 star hotel, we are told, but felt absolutely 5 star in every way. We definitely recommend that luxury travellers stay here rather in boring, stuffy and dated 5 star hotels that charge extra for WiFi!
