Top 6 London hotel Christmas trees.
London’s hotels have upped their game this year when it comes to their Christmas tree offerings. Whether you like traditional, gaudy, chic or simple, there’s something for every taste. Here I run down my six favourites, in no particular order…
1. Claridge’s Lanvin tree
Fashion powerhouse Lanvin’s Creative Director, Alber Elbaz, personally designed the Claridge’s tree. The tree is a colourful and sparkly creation, topped with Elbaz himself (in knitted form) as the fairy. It also features some whimsical characters relaxing in front of the tree, like a Claridge’s doorman and a maid dressed in Lanvin-designed uniforms. Great fun!

2. Radisson Edwardian Heathrow’s tree
It’s a modern affair at the free WiFi Radisson Edwardian Heathrow – one of the few Heathrow airport hotels to feel totally unlike a typical airport hotel. This purple creation, the most perfectly triangular tree I think I’ve ever seen, is decorated with stars, baubles and other bright decorations, and is topped with a less-than-traditional jolly gold ribbon.

3. Brown’s Hotel – Garrard tree
Garrard, the world’s oldest jeweller, created a set of unique bejewelled decorations for the Brown’s Christmas tree. Taking inspiration from 2012 being the 200th Birthday year of Charles Dickens, the tree has a Dickensian twist. It uses pockets - which feature heavily in the classic Oliver Twist - as an alternative to Christmas stockings. Although unlike in Twist’s world, these raspberry red pockets are overflowing with glittering Garrard jewels.

4. The Chesterfield Mayfair’s tree
There’s something rustic about The Chesterfield Mayfair’s tree. Its orange decorations may seem more Halloween than Christmas, but I like it for its homemade, less-preened qualities. It’s a bit like me in that way! The Chesterfield Mayfair has been getting festive in other ways too.

5. The May Fair Hotel’s tree
The chic May Fair Hotel has kept its Christmas tree simple this year – with a bushy bright green tree generously adorned with red and gold baubles, it’s a sophisticated yet understated offering and looks picture perfect. Just what you’d expect from one of the most hip central London hotels.

6. The Lanesborough’s tree
There’s a traditional take on Christmas at The Lanesborough - a rare ultra-deluxe London hotel with free WiFi. This jolly red and gold tree towers over piles of gifts – I do hope they’re not dummies! – and a little green sleigh, complete with doll drivers. Very quaint, with a glittery edge.
