Going for festive gold at Vista.

by Jules on December 20, 2011

One of our favourite rooftop bars, Vista at The Trafalgar Hotel has created a special festive menu running throughout December.  The ‘Five Gold Rings’ menu features three cocktails and two food dishes, all topped with 23 carat gold!  Every Winter the popular Summer venue is transformed into a Winter Wonderland complete with a dome cover to allow all weather usage and outdoor heated lamps to keep out the cold.  Looking out over Trafalgar Square on to the famous Christmas tree below it is without doubt one of the best views in London – you can even see Big Ben and the London Eye.

The cocktails on offer are; Golden Winter (Goslings black rum, angostura bitters, cranberry, fresh blackberries, Creme de Mure, garnished with gold leaf), Gold Desire (Southern Comfort, Amaretto, champagne, real gold flakes) and Golden Sprinter (Vodka Zubrowka, apple schnapps, vanilla, real gold leaf).  The two food dishes are Gold Scotch Smoked Salmon (with shaved fennel, caper berries) and Gold Chocolate Indulge (dark chocolate alcazar, chocolate sauce and brandy snaps).

The view from vista during the summer - thankfully the bar is covered in the winter

Vista is open seven days a week from 12pm to 1am and don’t forget there is a £5 cover charge.  If things do get a little nippy on the roof you could always head downstairs to the newly-refurbished restaurant downstairs – in fact, there’s a recent review of Rockwell restaurant on this very blog (we sampled a selection of impressive dishes including three cheese and truffle ravioli and pork chop with sauteed apple and black pudding).
