The Stafford celebrates a century – with a £100k hotel deal!

by Holly on February 13, 2012

The Stafford London has just embarked on a year-long celebration of its 100th Birthday.  The luxury hotel has decided to use the whole of 2012 – already a year of momentous celebration thanks to the Olympiad and Diamond Jubilee – to commemorate 100 years, since the exact opening date of the hotel is debatable.

A listing in The Times of the time includes an opening announcement for The Stafford on April 25 1911, but other sources say the building which is now the hotel’s main house (no. 18) was not added until 1912.

In preparation for the official 2012 Birthday, The Stafford used 2011 to embark on a renovation program to make the hotel better than ever; including the launch of rustic British restaurant The Lyttelton.

The 100th celebrations focus on The Stafford’s quintessential Britishness.  VIP experiences, new gastronomic offerings, historic exhibits and promotions, plus trivia and insider insight shared via social media, will immerse guests in the hotel’s history and hint at exciting future events.

If only I had a spare £100,000 to blow (sigh…) – maybe recent lottery winners might wish to apply instead.
