Marriott County Hall gets a new restaurant.
The five-star London Marriott County Hall Hotel located on the South Bank is all set to open a brand new restaurant by the end of the month.
Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar aims to represent the best “English of English” from the cuts of beef served, to the interiors with Chesterfield sofas and Waterford chandeliers and amazing views of Parliament and Big Ben.
The top-notch meat will be sourced from the Duke of Devonshire’s Bolton Abbey Estate in Yorkshire. The menu features nine cuts of steak including 300g fillet on the bone, 450g porthouse and 600g t-bone steaks. The highlight will be the signature 1000g ‘Bulls Head’ steak - a 1000g butterfly cut, double rib steak served with the bone; this will no doubt go down a treat with carnivores. Other classic English produce includes Brixham diver clams & mussel broth and Foreman’s London cured smoked salmon.
But it’s not just about food because the bar will also aim to impress with 33 English gins (one of the best gin collections in London), 10 English beers and 5 English vodkas. Cocktails have been designed to take guests on a trip through a historic cocktail chronology featuring concoctions from as far back as the Georgian Era with the signature Very Slippy-Weather cocktail. It echoes the Victorian cocktails at St Pancras Renaissance.

Gillray’s will also make its own gin and vodka infusions including No.3 with mandarin and cardamom and Hendricks & Twinings Ritual English Breakfast Tea. Further homage to the English influence can be seen in the bar snack menu featuring black pudding rings and Highland venison sausage rolls.
Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar will open its doors at the end of March and we’re licking our lips in anticipation at the prospect of what sounds like an attractive new entrant to the London hotel restaurant scene.
