Mandarin Oriental rolls out luxury rickshaws!
Rickshaw rides at a luxury hotel? Yes, please! What an original idea!
One of London’s most iconic hotels, the luxury Mandarin Oriental has solved the Olympic transport problem – or so they think – by offering guests rickshaw rides across the capital. The hotel has taken the simple rickshaw design and pimped it up to create little pods of luxury, driven by very well dressed gentlemen. Riders don’t have to worry about getting wet in the English weather either as the leather seats are covered by a plastic roof.
What’s more the rickshaw has the Mandarin Oriental logo splashed on the back so everyone will know you’re staying at the 5 star hotel!

The rickshaws are available for use throughout the Games, from 27th July until 12th August 2012 – handy for those who want to drop by nearby Hyde Park to catch the Marathon Swimming event. The rickshaw package also includes a luxury picnic with optional butler though we’re not sure where he would fit as there certainly doesn’t look like enough room for three!

The rickshaw experience package starts from £850 which includes a night in an individually designed Courtyard King room, breakfast, private rickshaw ride and picnic for two. And once there you might want to check out the hotel’s spa, one of the best in London. Whilst it may seem expensive, it won’t be anything compared to the taxi fares you might end up racking up after spending hours waiting in Olympics-induced traffic jams…
