Harrods set to open a luxury London hotel.
Hot on the heels of rumours that Selfridges is planning to open a London hotel comes the news that the owners of Harrods department store will indeed open a chain of hotels. These luxury hotels will be located in various cities throughout the world including one in London at Chelsea Barracks, just minutes from the famous store itself.
The owner of Harrods already owns the site at Chelsea Barracks which offers an opportunity to make this the first hotel in the chain. The property would have lots of competition as Knightsbridge is already home to a bevy of luxury hotels like the Egerton House boutique 5 star hotel (image below), the new Bulgari hotel which opened last month, the Capital Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental, which recently rolled out a fleet of luxury rickshaws.

There’s no date fixed for the Harrods Hotel yet, but we expect it might be within the next couple of years. The Harrods’ owners are also behind the Shard, the tallest building in Europe which recently opened and which will house a Shangri-La Hotel with 195 rooms. It looks like the London luxury hotel scene is set to get even more interesting!
