Hilton Gatwick – not your typical airport hotel.

The Hilton Gatwick is just 5 minutes from South Terminal via a covered walkway. The hotel is huge and has 821 rooms making it the largest at the airport, with two restaurants, a bar and even a Costa cafe. These were bustling at 9pm – in fact it was almost like being on holiday already.
The first thing I noticed about the Executive Rooms was the generous space. The rooms are pretty big and benefit from a separate shower and bath which I wasn’t really expecting. They also have flatscreen TVs, alarm clocks, tea/coffee-making facilities, robes and slippers. But perhaps the best thing is the Peter Thomas Roth toiletries in the bathrooms – they’ve thought of everything which is ideal if you can’t be bothered to unpack your bags. That includes toothbrushes, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, creams and shaving kits – more thoughtful than your average airport hotel.

After a relaxing bath I climbed into bed and didn’t hear even one plane, sleeping deeply until the alarm went off for my early am flight. Before checkout I sampled the buffet breakfast which had a good spread of everything from a Full English to yoghurt and fruit. Checkout was fast and 15 minutes later I was going through departures – the easiest airport journey yet. If all airport hotels were like this, I’d check in more often.
