Review of pudding party at The Athenaeum.

by Rajul on December 16, 2011

Talk about feeling like a little kid in a sweet shop...

The Athenaeum is well-known as one of London’s most family-friendly hotels.  Last week however, they invited a group of bloggers including us to engage in some very adult pleasures as the photo above illustrates…and boy we certainly made the most of it (though only once an initial tortuous standoff in which nobody dared make the first move on the above table was admirably broken by our brave friend Laura of About London!).

Laura - who is like the Lionel Messi of London afternoon teas – pounced on the rhubarb crumble, which thankfully opened the floodgates so that the rest of us less courageous bloggers could immediately follow in her wake.

The “pudding party” was held to promote the hotel’s pop-up Pudding Parlour which we’ve blogged about before.  And the reality was even better than we’d expected - with the retro bread and butter pudding and a very modern twist on rhubarb crumble (scrumptious!) particular hits.

Oh and they serve some carefully-selected dessert wines too.  Highly recommended!

It was a great evening. What I liked about it was how there was a lot of variety and it wasn’t the wallet-emptying experience most dining options are in that part of town. http://www.jenography.net/2011/12/blogger-review-of-the-athenaeum-pudding-parlour/
