Free WiFi touchdown: the best tweets.

London Hotels Insight continues to put pressure on luxury hotels to stop hijacking their guests for extra WiFi charges. We list some of the best recent #freeWiFi tweets below.
London Hotels Insight’s free WiFi touchdown visits are now complete, but we’ll continue to pressurise London hotels that charge extra for WiFi without stating this information clearly upfront before travellers book.
During our campaign, we personally visited 14 different free WiFi London hotels and promoted them aggressively on social media. We took hundreds of photos which are being uploaded onto the London Hotels Insight Flickr page and continue to promote them throughout the web.
We met a lot of dedicated hotel staff during our visits and sourced a wealth of inside info about the hotels featured. We also sampled great food and cheekily named and shamed “bad guy” luxury hotels that charge extra though WiFi is now a basic necessity like hot water. But most importantly, we promoted free WiFi hotels that see sense on this critical issue.
Dozens of tweets were sent out during this campaign from the London Hotels Insight Twitter a/c. Here are a selection of some of our favourites:
We’d like to thank the hotels that hosted us for their generous hospitality during our campaign and the copious amounts of coffee consumed!
It goes to show that hotels with free WiFi can be promoted by their guests on social media channels, while hotels that charge for WiFi access diminish their own chances of getting this sort of positive exposure. But more than that, free WiFi hotels in our view show integrity and transparency, understanding that any attempt to charge guests for something they now expect to be included in the room rate is futile and bad for business.
Are the big name 5 star hotels and big global brands that are most guilty of this practice listening?
