Be the Queen’s next door neighbour at the Rubens.

A room in the "Royal Wing" of Rubens at the Palace - a hotel designed for visitors who wish to be as close to royalty as possible

Some people are completely obsessed by the Royal Family and make it the major theme of their visit to London.  If you fit into that category then there’s really only one hotel to consider for your next London stay.

Not only does the aptly-named “Rubens at the Palace” score well on TripAdvisor thanks to parent company Red Carnation’s quality standards, it also happens to be almost opposite Buckingham Palace’s Royal Mews!

The Rubens also offers great value for a luxury 4 star London hotel, with the odd deal for under £100 per night [not seen for a while, but you can still get very good value if you book direct with the hotel].

Rooms at the Rubens are nothing if not eclectic

This year, however, the hotel’s owners have gone out of their way to attract royalty addicts.  They have crafted a special “Royal Day Out” package designed to satisfy their every desire.  The deal includes:

  • A full English breakfast every day as well as a traditional afternoon tea in the Palace Lounge (overlooking the entrance to the Royal Mews).
  • Two nights accommodation in a room or suite of your desire which will look out onto Buckingham Palace’s Royal Mews.
  • Tickets to do a visit of the Royal Mews.  The Mews are home to the horse-drawn carriages and motor vehicles used for special state occasions, including the Queen’s famous gold coach.
  • Tickets to the Queen’s Gallery to see the “Art & Love” exhibition which puts the spotlight on Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
  • Tickets to The State Rooms which contain some of the Royal Collection’s most valuable pieces, including paintings by Rembrandt and Rubens, as well as some fine examples of English furniture.  You also get access to a special exhibition called “The Queen’s Year”.

The above package is only available by booking directly with the hotel and valid for stays up to 29th October only.  So if you want to experience being the Queen’s neighbour for a few days then you’d better hurry and book!

A minimum two-night stay applies to the offer with rates from around £185 per night (please check with the hotel for exact terms).  Finally, to explore the Queen’s other residence, you can also make a day-trip to Windsor by taking a coach from Victoria, just a few minutes walk from the Rubens.

I see an interesting sentence on your site-
“The Rubens offers great value……..with the odd deal for under 100 pounds per night if you make your booking wisely”.
What time of the year would this be for?
What type of room would this be-single or double?
Would there be a window?
What would the view be?
Sorry to hear that the VAT has gone up to 20%. Too bad for U.S. tourists with the low $ and not good for the staff there either.

Thanks for your comment Ms. Bradley. I haven’t seen a sub-£100 deal for quite a while there, I must admit (have updated the text above to reflect this) but the Rubens still offers great value for a 4 star hotel. Typically the quietest month in London hotels is January though can vary from year to year and by hotel. Sunday nights are also often relatively good value. Not all rooms have views and you should check with the hotel before you book (would suggest you booking direct with the Rubens as they offer a guaranteed best rate).
