London hotels bring in the boys in whites.
With the Olympics and Jubilee getting closer the competition between London hotels is really hotting up! Two hotels have even resorted to bringing in the big boys in whites, having recruited two famous chefs to get things steamy in the kitchen, following in the footsteps of Claridge’s.
First up was the Sheraton Park Tower who announced they were to host the “World’s Best Indian Chef” Manjit Gill from the highly acclaimed Bukhara restaurant which is located in the ITC Maurya hotel in Delhi.
The chef will run a pop-up restaurant at Sheraton Park Tower for just two weeks, with the menu featuring a range of dishes from Bukhara’s menu including Sikandri Raan, a braised and grilled whole leg of spring lamb, marinated in a mixture of malt vinegar, cinnamon and black cumin; Tandoori Jhinga (jumbo prawns marinated in an ajwain flavoured mixture of yoghurt, red chillies, turmeric and flavoured with garam masala), as well as the signature 18 hour slow-cooked Black Dal.

Whilst over at the London celebrity hotel The Dorchester, chef Shaun Rankin is already half way through his first London pop-up restaurant at The Grill. The pop-up started on 14th May and runs for just 6 days until 19th May. Shaun’s pop-up is offering diners the chance to sample the best produce from Jersey including Jersey asparagus, Jersey scallops and the popular Jersey Pearls (baby Jersey Royals). On the menu are dishes such as asparagus with three hour cooked duck egg and treacle tart with Jersey clotted cream ice cream which was featured on BBC’s Great British Menu series in 2006 when Shaun was named Chef of the Year.
If you don’t manage to catch one of these pop-ups then keep your eyes peeled for future events as we have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more pop-ups at London hotels over the coming months.
